Matt. 3:16

NASV - After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, (Aleph, B)


Matt. 5:22

KJV - But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (Byz)

Matt. 8:13

KJV - And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. (Byz)

NASV - And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed that very moment. (most major manuscripts)

NIV - Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment. (Byz)

NLT - Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour. (most major manuscripts)


Matt. 8:18

KJV - Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. (Byz)

NASV - Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea. (Aleph, B)


Matt. 8:21

KJV - And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. (Byz)

NASV - And another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” (Aleph, B)


Matt. 8:25

KJV - And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. (Byz)

(Note: Byz includes the word “us”. Aleph and B do not. The NASV translators added the word in italics.)


Matt. 8:28

KJV - And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. (Byz)

NASV - When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way. (Aleph, B)


Matt. 8:31

KJV - So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. (Byz)

NASV - The demons began to entreat Him, saying, “If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.” (most major manuscripts)

Note: In the "Byz" manuscripts, the demons call for a more passive action, "suffer us", or "permit us", as contrasted with the more active "send us".


Matt. 8:32

KJV - And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. (Byz)

NASV - And He said to them, “Go!” And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters. (most major manuscripts)


Matt. 9:14

KJV - He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Aleph, Byz)

NASV - He who has ears to hear, let him hear. (Aleph, Byz)

Matt. 11:17

KJV - And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. (Byz)

Matt. 11:19

NASV - Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed him, so that the mute man spoke and saw. (most major manuscripts)

Note: The word "man" is not in the manuscripts. NASV translators and others believed it was implied in the text. Thus the verse continues to speak in specific terms while the KJV transitions to a general sense. The second ocurrance of the word "blind" is only in the 'Byz' manuscripts.


Matt. 13:9

KJV - Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Byz)

NASV - He who has ears, let him hear. (Aleph, B)


Matt. 13:43

KJV - Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Byz)

NASV - Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. (Aleph, B)


Matt. 13:51

KJV - Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. (Byz)

NASV - “Have you understood all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes.” (most major manuscripts)


Matt. 13:55

KJV - Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? (Byz)

Matt. 14:24

Matt. 15:6
