Jude 1:1 KJV - Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: (Byz) NASV - I Jude, a bond- servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: (Aleph, A, B) Jude 1:3 KJV - Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Byz) NASV - Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. (Aleph, A, B) Jude 1:4 KJV - For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Byz) NASV - For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. (Aleph, A, B) Jude 1:5 KJV - I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. (Byz) NASV - Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. (Aleph) NIV - Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. (Aleph) Note: translation from A and B manuscripts would read something like "... ye once knew this, how that JESUS . . .". Jude 1:15 KJV - To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (Byz)
NASV - to execute judgment upon all, and to
convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done
in an ungodly way, and of all
the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
NIV - to judge everyone, and to convict
all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all
the defiant words
ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
Note: The Greek source for this verse (non-Byzantine) does not single out a group called "the ungodly". Thus, the NIV is the most accurate in this instance. Jude 1:23 KJV - And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (Byz) NASV - save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. (Aleph, A) Jude 1:25 KJV - To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (Byz) NASV - to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Aleph, A, B) (“through Jesus Christ our Lord” and “before all time” are presumed to be in Aleph and B. They are not in Byz.) |
